Competitions:

This year’s Student Design Competition problem statement is Remote Inspection Device. Your task is to design a remotely-controlled, proof-of-concept vehicle for inspection purposes. The vehicle must be able to negotiate around obstacles, both in getting to the inspection points and in bringing a sensor back to the designated return area. The vehicle must then return to its starting location, ready for another run. The Old Guard competitions consist of Technical Webpage, Technical Poster, and Oral Competitions. These competitions can be on any topic of your choice. This year’s new competition is the Old Guard Technical Rapid Abstract for which an abstract should be written for a technical paper provided the day of the Conference! The Student Design Fair is an open event in which teams of students present a project that they have worked on in the form of a prototype, poster, or presentation. The Impromptu Design Competition is another quick competition in which students will be given a problem statement for which they have to build their prototype and compete within the span of 2 hours.
