ONTARIO POWER GENERATION
About OPG
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is an Ontario-based electricity
company. We are one of the largest power companies in North
America. We produce the power used in most homes, schools,
hospitals and businesses in Ontario.
We have strong programs in place to operate in a safe, open
and environmentally-responsible manner.
What We Do
We own and operate:
- 2 nuclear power stations
- 5 thermal power stations
- 65 hydroelectric power stations on 24 river systems
- 2 wind power turbines.
OPG also owns two other nuclear power stations which are leased to Bruce Power L.P.
Last Year Quick Facts
- OPG's generating capacity was more than 19,000 megawatts (MW).
- Ninety-six per cent of our electricity came from nuclear and hydroelectric, which produce virtually no emissions that contribute to smog or climate change.
UNIVERSITY OF TORONTO
Engineering at the University
The Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering at the University of Toronto
is a centre of immense inspiration, remarkable innovation and endless
possibilities. Earning an international reputation for excellence in
engineering education and research, UofT Engineering is ranked in the
top 8 engineering schools in the world. Our Faculty is home to dedicated
researchers and students working to solve some of the world’s most
pressing concerns.
Through our collaborative and inter-disciplinary research, we address some of the world's greatest challenges and concerns, from finding sustainable solutions for transportation to increasing personal electronic security. Our students and professors come together to share knowledge and benefit from a creative environment where great ideas and innovative technologies are born. Our research facilities, which are available to undergrad students, are among the best in Canada.
The University of Toronto’s Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering is one of Canada’s oldest engineering schools. Since 1873, the Faculty has had roughly 50,000 students pass through its doors and leave as engineering professionals. Throughout our incredible history, we have consistently drawn inspiration from the exceptional men and women that have made their mark not only within the Faculty and University communities, but also in the field of engineering. This is evidenced by the hundreds of awards and honours received by members of our Faculty over the years. Our diverse student population provides an endless source of new perspectives and engaging social activities.
While the Faculty has changed over the years to include a wider range of engineering programs, new technology, facilities, and a broader global perspective, it is with the same spirit and vigor that current Engineering students and Faculty continue to make strides in the field of engineering — improving the lives of others around the world.
